I really do hope you are all enjoying these simple, low-prep, easy-to-put together, functional, yet fun and engaging apple-themed activities that I am sharing as much as I am enjoying sharing them with you!
I love activities that are easy to put together, functional and keep little hands busy as they learn.
This is one of the simple activities the girls and I did that took me less than 20 mins to prepare and was completed by the girls in under ten minutes. A total win, right?
Materials you will need to reproduce this simple journal activity:
- A journal/paper
- construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers
- Pencil
Steps to recreating this simple activity:
Step 1: Collect all the materials you will need.
Step 2: Draw the shape of your tree from green and brown construction paper. You can also draw and colour the tree onto paper. I decided to cut the trees out to save time because most activities I do I have to recreate twice.
Step 3: Use red construction paper to draw the shapes you want to teach or review with your child. We focused on circles, triangles, rectangles and squares. If your little ones can cut the shapes out on their own, by all means, allow them to do just that.
Step 4: Trace the shapes onto the green outline of your tree. I outlined each shape twice.
Step 5: Use a brown and green marker to add stems and leaves to each shape.
Step 6: Use a marker to write the names of each shape in the outlines.
After following the steps, above, this simple apple-themed shape activity is ready for your little ones to learn or review some basic shapes.
You can present your child with a glue stick or liquid glue for them to find and match each shape.
This activity is also great for :
- Teaching/reviewing some basic shapes
- Teaching reviewing the names of some basic shapes
- Concentration
- Hand-eye coordination
- Fine motor skills development
Send us pictures of your little ones doing this activity so that we can share them in this article!😊
